چکیده

We demonstrate a Doppler-free spectroscopic method that we test on Rb and Rb vapor. By using a magnetic field to induce a dichroism on the sample, we generate a dispersive signal with low background, which allows us to lock a diode laser even on small spectroscopic features. We elaborate the advantages of this simple and easy method by comparing it to other methods. PACS. 39.30.+w Spectroscopic techniques – 33.55.Ad Optical activity, optical rotation; circular dichroism

Modulation-Free Frequency Stabilization of a Grating-External-Cavity Diode Laser by Magnetically Induced sub-Doppler Dichroism in Cesium Vapor Cell

Thanks to the Zeeman effect and the saturation absorption spectroscopic technique, magnetically induced sub-Doppler dichroism has been experimentally demonstrated in a cesium vapor cell. A dispersion-like frequency-discriminating signal is obtained by this sub-Doppler dichroism. The phase-sensitive detection via lock-in is no longer required because there is no frequency dither on the laser. A ...

Temperature-insensitive laser frequency locking near absorption lines.

Combined magnetically induced circular dichroism and Faraday rotation of an atomic vapor are used to develop a variant of the dichroic atomic vapor laser lock that eliminates lock sensitivity to temperature fluctuations of the cell. Operating conditions that eliminate first-order sensitivity to temperature fluctuations can be determined by low-frequency temperature modulation. This temperature-...

Polarization spectroscopy and magnetically-induced dichroism of the potassium D2 lines.

We study modulation-free methods for producing sub-Doppler, dispersive line shapes for laser stabilization near the potassium D(2) transitions at 767 nm. Polarization spectroscopy is performed and a comparison is made between the use of a mirror or beam splitter for aligning the counter-propagating pump and probe beams. Conventional magnetically-induced dichroism is found to suffer from a small...

Laser frequency offset locking by marrying modulation sideband with the two-color polarization spectroscopy in a ladder-type atomic system

We present an investigation of two-color polarization spectroscopy (TCPS) based on cesium 6S1/2–6P3/2– 7S1/2 (852 nmþ1470 nm) ladder-type system in a room-temperature vapor cell. The 1470 nm laser can be offset locked by TCPS combining with frequency modulation sideband. This locking scheme offers a method of modulation-free and conveniently tunable the lock point of laser frequency relative to...

Linewidth reduction and frequency stabilization of a semiconductor laser with a combination of FM sideband locking and optical feedback.

We describe a novel method for semiconductor laser noise reduction that uses a combination of optical and electronic feedback. A Doppler-free Faraday resonance in Cs vapor provided both optical feedback and discrimination for an electronic feedback scheme incorporating FM sideband spectroscopy. The introduction of electronic feedback further reduced the low-frequency fluctuation noise power by ...
